💕My OJT Blog💕
💕 On-the-job training, also known as OJT, is a hands-on method of teaching the skills, knowledges, and competencies for employees to perform a specific job within workplace. Employees learn in the environment where they will need to practice the knowledge and skills obtained during training.💕
I am Micky Z. Dioso, a fourth-year student taking Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at Northern Iloilo State University, Lemery Campus. As I make my way to second semester in my last year in college, I am required to take an on the job training in a host training establishment for preparation for working in real world after school. I am interning at Public Employment Service Office (PESO) – LGU, Lemery Iloilo.
I started my first day on the first week of February starting from the 6th day of the month. I don’t know whether to feel excited or nervous because everything is new for me. From the people, from the task their doing, until the type of working environment. I don’t know how to interact with the people around the office. I don’t know if I can do the thing they’re doing. I don’t know how things are doing to be done. I don’t know the process. I don’t nothing at first. But Ms. Stephanie Rea Torre the assistant of our Administrative She is very friendly welcome us in my first day. And the same day she explained how things/works are going to be done. They don’t pressure me all time. And Miss. Dyan Baltar, an administrative and here is the task that she given me almost one month of staying at PESO: Receive Documents (Documents that need to sign, for information or need to take an action). Encoding Document (Document for Child Laborer / OFW membership).Distribute Document to other department for their signatures.
Filing / organizing papers, Xerox of ID (Tupad beneficiaries), Photocopy papers, Scan, Print, and other things that are related to offices works.
Lessons I’ve learned from my OJT Experience
It was only 1 month but, I learn a lot during my OJT .it is not the activities or task that I have done but also how to act in a certain situation and how to socialize with others . And I learned how to speak with people professionally. I also learned to work hard no matter what I’m doing, even if it is just a small task or unimportant. I can say, I'm happy and fulfilled, being part of PESO. From the moment I set my feet on this place, I know I will be facing different challenges on being part of this department but at the same time I know that I will learn new things.
